Moving or changing your Video Conferencing might seem a little difficult but making the right decision, at the right time, for all the right reasons is a good thing to do.
Decisions, decisions – when the right one can be harder to make than the wrong one!
It’s something we do all day, from the time we decide what to have for breakfast to the person we want to spend the rest of our lives with. In just these two small examples, the stark difference in size of the decision is clear as well as the difficulty too. We may only like cornflakes, which makes that decision easy, but what if we like a variety, Weetabix, Special K or Rice Crispies……then the decision has just got much harder. What if we ONLY like one cereal, but there is none in the house? To make the right decision is now difficult. We need to get dressed, get in the car and drive to the shops to procure our favoured “start of the day” choice which potentially knocks back the rest of our schedule…..BUT, if that’s all we are going to eat, it is the correct decision to make.
In business, companies and their personnel are faced with issues like this every day, albeit a bit more meaningful and business critical. In my own industry sector, Video Conferencing, I am often surprised as to how difficult it is for potential customers to decide to buy my offering, my solutions. In public sector, we are faced with all sorts of barriers with Frameworks for example. Even if you have the best solution and at the best price, the customer cannot decide to buy it if it’s not on the Framework, which begs the question…..what is the framework for then? In one particular example, the appropriate Framework had products/solutions on it that were either already obsolete, going obsolete or no longer the best available. Surely you want the freedom to procure the right product at the right price?
It is clear that some products lend themselves to tenders/frameworks and some not. Commodities such as paperclips and stables maybe, but technology changes very rapidly and so may not be best purchased via this method. Perhaps, public sector organisations need to be given the freedom to choose their supplier/consultant to advise on the best solution or direction to take? After all, we do that most often in our everyday lives when we need work done at home.
Research and testing is also a necessity. Marketing is great, it gets the message out there but it is critical to ensure that the potential supplier can deliver on those messages – it is often what is NOT said that is most important!!!!
So, to my big point – my company sells Cloud Video Conferencing from StarLeaf. We believe it is the best solution in the market today, we believe it is the easiest to use and we believe it is the most cost effective solution. We believe this so much that we are happy to demonstrate, side by side, with any other solution in the market, that what we believe is true.
To move to StarLeaf and to AuDeo might be a little difficult. You may have a fleet of other vendor’s end points, you may even have some on-site infrastructure, you may use another vendor’s service or you may think that it is too much work and hassle to change, to re-train and to promote to the decision makers in the business. But, you know what? Making the right decision, at the right time, for all the right reasons is a good thing to do. Sir Clive Woodward believed in training his team to make the right decision at the right time on the field. It seemed to work for him…..England won the Rugby World Cup under his tenure in 2003.
