Why settle for less than High Definition? (26th February 2008)

High Definition Video Conferencing is now more affordable than ever.

High Definition Video Conferencing systems have been on the market for a couple of years now and the technology is improving all the time.

Why opt for Standard Definition when the quality of High Definition calls are vastly improved, even at lower speeds?

You don’t need to call at high speeds to experience the benefits and enhanced quality of High Definition. The quality of calls placed at low speed (128k, 256k or 384k) on High Definition Video Conferencing systems are greatly enhanced.

High Definition Video ConferencingThe benefits speak for themselves:

  • Provides a tremendous leap in video
quality - similar to the difference
    between TV and HDTV.
  • Vibrant & realistic colours
  • Approaching face-to-face value
  • Sharper & smoother movements
  • Greatest visual, audio & content detail

LifeSize dramatically reduced the cost of High Definition with the launch of their LifeSize Express system in October 2007, making High Definition more affordable than ever.

Polycom’s HDX range is now the alternative to Standard Definition. The recently launched HDX 7000 series is the High Definition version of the VSX 7000s and conveniently sits within the same price bracket.  The HDX 8000 series is the High Definition version of the VSX 7000e.  For high end integrated Video Conferencing systems there is also the HDX 9000 series. There's a High Definition system available to suit your Video Conferencing needs, from small meeting rooms right up to fully integrated conference rooms.

Future proof your investment in Video Conferencing, consider High Definition!

High Definition is the newest set of standards for high quality video conferencing. High Definition standards have been defined by the ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) as picture resolutions of 720p and 1080i/1080p. High Definition has a refresh rate of 24,25,30,50, 60 frames per second and a resolution image of 1280x720 pixels or 1920x1080 pixels. The higher number of pixels translates into sharper and clearer pictures. The higher refresh rate results in less flickering to the human eye. High Definition uses the progressive scan format rather than interlacing, treating the entire video image as one frame and does not suffer from jagged edges in the picture.
