LifeSize announces sofware release of LifeSize v3.0. (27th September 2007)

LifeSize is pleased to present the latest milestone reached by the leader in high definition video communications - the software release of LifeSize® v3.0 for LifeSize® RoomTM / TeamTM . Designed especially to increase the performance of LifeSize video systems, LifeSize 3.0 enhances the overall experience by enabling features such as:

Increased embedded MCU functionality with support for 6-way voice activated switching and 4-way continuous presence plus data streaming
Significant camera quality enhancements to auto focus, auto exposure, color correction and low light performance while maintaining 30fps at all times
Improved user simplicity through new user interface design, enhanced call manager functionality and expanded call directory capabilities
In addition to the LifeSize 3.0 release, LifeSize introduced the newest hardware accessory, LifeSize® SDI Adapter™. This device allows LifeSize Room systems to connect directly with third party HD cameras such as the Sony EVI-HD1 and serves as an ideal HD camera alternative for auditoriums and lecture halls.

High Definition is the newest set of standards for high quality video conferencing. High Definition standards have been defined by the ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) as picture resolutions of 720p and 1080i/1080p. High Definition has a refresh rate of 24,25,30,50, 60 frames per second and a resolution image of 1280x720 pixels or 1920x1080 pixels. The higher number of pixels translates into sharper and clearer pictures. The higher refresh rate results in less flickering to the human eye. High Definition uses the progressive scan format rather than interlacing, treating the entire video image as one frame and does not suffer from jagged edges in the picture.
