Again, another debate in our office…
When do you reasonably expect a reply from your communication?
& does the medium you use dictate the response time?
This is what we think:
Face to face = immediate response
A phone call = immediate response
A text = response within a few minutes
An email = response within 2 hours
A letter = response within a week
And, do we therefore use the appropriate medium for the level of urgency?
For example if you have an immediate problem you go and see the person or call them, if it’s important but you don’t want to disturb then you text or email.
So, how does Video Conferencing fit into this equation?
Video Conferencing gets you in front of the person you need to ask the question, so it’s up there with the immediate response mediums!
